ive got 10 farm raised catfish, about 8 inches long, what do i need to feed them and how long will it take for them to grow to eating size ? the guy i got them from said feed them cat chow, but i dont know , one of them ate my crawdade though, that was the longest living thing i had
..if it works out good i can just fish them out of my 100 gal tank whenever im hungry, then its fish fry time !

I love to eat catfish, but I think I'd get attached to them ugly things. My opinion? I think you would spend way less money getting fresh or frozen channel catfish at the "supa" market than having to maintain them all the time, plus, right out of the tank and right outta the package taste the same, it depends more on the feed.

Actually, I've heard just the opposite, that aquarium raised fish don't taste nearly as good as fish from a pond, river, whatever. Mainly because their flesh isn't as firm, a result from not having the same amount of exercise that fish in larger bodies of water have. You also have to be careful if the fish are ever treated with any kind of medication.....some meds have a warning on the label "not to be used on fish meant for human consumption" or something like that.
I read somewhere of a guy that fried up a pacu that he'd had for years and he no longer had room for it so he killed it and ate it. Wasn't that good so he said and frankly, I would think you would become attached to those catfish....I know I couldn't eat a pet!!!
