Mines not on the list, and it is an african cichlid,Neolamprologus brichardi, beautiful fish, should hopefully be setting up a new tank for some in the future...

That sounds great Cichlid-Man, what's that set up gonna look like? Are you going for a rocky Tang tank or a breeding set up with pots and stuff? You'll need a light substrate for Chaitika Whites right?

Good luck with the brichardi, Barb, they're a fantastic fish and utterly compulsive viewing. A species tank?

Fancy having no Africans on this list? tut, tut! ;-)

yea this list is bunk, those are pretty tired cichlids in terms of faves.
i can think of a bunch off the top of my head that i find exciting or manageable over those.
rams, keyholes, checkerboards, apisto,at thats just from south america and dwarf.then there is the much underapperciated(here at least)geophagus group,i really like geo's.someday i'll have that tank...
then there is neo.bricharid like barb mentioned, what a fish.speaking of fish like that, most shell dwellers rock too.
but enough rambling if your were looking for a favorite cichlid,i'd say it's a toss between the german blue ram and just about any tropheus.

Yep taffy, all rocks. Darker rocks on a light sand. Pretty much a tang bio-type. I really just want to keep them now....maybe later on down the road setup a breeding tank for some. :) Gonna add some Julis too i think. To maybe provide a little live food and hunting for the Calvus.

Actually Convict's and Jack Dempsey's are Central American Cichlids;)

I personally like the Keyhole Cichlid, if you haven't already noticed!:p cheap, really hardy, peaceful, eats almost anything, and if you buy and/or raise juveniles they will takeaway the "shyness" aspect and get used to the owner!

i like GT's but i have yet to trust one in my loach tank...as a more peaceful alternative ive been looking at green severums(Severums in general really) they always seem to have personality when i see them, and i like their color patterns.

i prefer apistogramma's (i've had agassizii and cacatuiodes) over any of the ones on this list, and want some shell dwellers (multis are my favourites) but out of this list i picked Discus, always wanted these, but don't have the time (or patience) to dedicate to their level of needs).
