Feeding Dwarf Puffer

Hi ppl,

I have a freshwater Dwarf Puffer-fish. I have been feeding him frozen brine shrimp at Petcetera for 2 weeks before I brought him home. However now that he's in my home tank he just won't eat.

I pour in the brine shrimp but he chews one up and spits it out the goes for another, never keeps them down. The package of brine shrimp I brought home thawed in the car, but I refroze it before I opened it.

Could that have made it disagreeable for him? It is the exact same kind of brine shrimp as I gave him at Petcetera.

Any ideas? Any other foods they like?

he could just be a messy eater. mine spits back alot of the shrimp he eats, but then he gobbles it up.

you could try live brine shrimp or freeze dried baby shrimp, mine loves the stuff.

or freeze dried bloodworms, and he needs to be eating snails once a week.

try blood worms i feed my puffers those and earth worms once a week and a snail once a week you want a big diet vairtiy try sdome ghost shrimp to

I'm with beaver. I feed mine frozen blood worms and he loves them. I have fed mine freeze dried shrimp and he didn't like the outer shell. That might be all that he is spitting out and eating the inside.

snails once a week! i was only giving him a few every two weeks. thanks for that!
