Feeding My New Convict Cichlid

I just got a new convict cichlid last night and I need to feed him today. I'm afraid my oscar is going to eat his food. What should I do about this. Shoul;d I feed him something other than cichlid pellets? WOuld that help or....

Convicts eat just about everything and anything, and are pretty tenacious about obtaining it. The best thing I know how to do is feed the oscar first until he's full, then feed the convict. Or seperate the oscar in some way until the convict has had a chance to feed.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you notice a problem. Feed your oscar as normal and see what the convict does.

  I try to distract the bully fish with flakes at one end of the tank, and when it starts eating I toss in some more at the other end. If it don`t eat the pellets right away, try flakes. My smaller/weaker fish usually have more luck snagging a flake than competing at the surface for food. Or even a mixture.
