How much and how often should I be feeding my oscars? I want them to be happy, healthy, colorful, and I want them to grow fast, expecially Surge. My problem is they aren't like my other fish who eat their fill then go about their day, and there so persistant begging to be fed! LOL if I turn on the light or walk past the tank, they go nuts expecting food. I've been feeding them alot, but they still don't seem content. I accidentally overfed Surge (little guy, about 2") the other day and he bloated and layed on the bottom for a while, so I felt horrible. I just want what's best for them, but they're ALWAYS hungry and begging so cute like little puppies! LOL

hehe...I have this same problem with my green spotted puffer. Such a fantastic little beggarman. The best way I've found to limit feedings is to actually get a schedule. Choose days when the fish are going to fast (REGARDLESS of their desperate little faces, they will not starve to death hehe) As far as specifically an oscar, I am not sure though, sorry. Whatever he will eat in three minutes and then scoop the rest out? That's what it says on my fishfood bottle. :) So not the most creative advice.

hhhmm, its been so long sense my oscar was 2" but mine grew about 1" a month until it was about 8 or so inches long, then it slowed down

but i fed my oscar maybe 4-6 pellets a day, and then i would feed em 5-10 feeder fish every couple of weeks with a 1-2 day fast after the feeders

it is actually beneficial to not feed these fish every day believe it or not, but dont starve em at at the same time :p

LOL That's the problem, if I puut in all they could eat in 3-5 mins, the whole bag would be gone in about.... 3-5 mins! LOL There PIGS! That and like Surge the other day, got all bloated and I thought he was going to die the way he was just laying there.

Well Surge is about 2", but Oscar has to be pushing 5" now. I don't do feeder fish, I give them a pretty varied diet with cichlid staple as a main dish and lots of other goodies as treats. I always feel like I don't feed them enough though, every time I feed Oscar and then walk away, he stairs me down and keeps looking up to the surface waiting for more! LOL

They do fast on weekends, since we go out to my parents on weekends they can't beg me! :p
