What else have you tried to feed him so far? Planetcatfish recommends algae wafers and sweet potatoes for those. I guess this means you've IDed him as an LDA033.

Baryancistrus that I've kept have enjoyed shrimp pellets and Hikari algae wafers. You could also try brine shrimp or bloodworms, if you have those.

I put Algae wafers in every night and he may be eating some of that, but if he is it is not much. So far he has showed no interest in either Sweet Potato or Zucchini.

After some folks on PlecoFanatics told me it was not a Snowball Plec (L102), I took some long looks at pictures on several sights and I think they are right. It was sold to me as a Snowball, but they do not appear to be as jet black and have a slightly different body shape. From the best I can tell it is an LDA-33. I don't really care which he is (cause he is cool), but I want to know size, diet, etc. Anyway, his belly and eyes are not sunken in so I am not to worried about him but would feel more comfortable if I saw him eat.

Thanks.

He's definitely a cutie! Plecos are hard to resist, even when you find out they get bigger than you originally thought they would :)

Good to hear that his stomach isn't sunken. Obviously, keep an eye on it for a while. There are quite a few of my plecs that I rarely see eat, but I they obviously are eating.

The Hikari wafers I use are more meat/fish than algae, and the meat-eating plecs seem to like them. I've also gotten some pleco power pellets from Aquabid that many of my bottom feeders seem to enjoy.

We always feed it to them raw.

Use your urge to feed prawns and really do it right. Make a prawn based frozen food slab.

Very simple to do. Pretty much we mix pure sprulina flake with peeled raw shrimp, add some garlic extract, then blend until you get a paste. Put it in a ziplock bag and squeeze it flat then freeze it. Just pinch off what you need and leave the rest in the freezer. All of our plecs would eat this mix...even BNs.
