Feeding techniques for Bettas in community tanks

Hey, I've tried this once before, and I got it working by target feeding my betta (who was killed by neighbors <shakes fist in air>), but I'm worried about leaving him in the tank while it has an automatic feeder on since I can't target feed him then. Can I just mix the foods for the betta and my other fish? What are some techniques that you guys use?

I think most fish will eat betta food...but most bettas wont eat other fish food...so as long as you mix in enough of their food with the community food, I'd think you'd be ok. Maybe just test it to see sometime? Hopefully you wont have to be gone long and using an automatic feeder...the fish will be ok for awhile without food.

Thanks, I'll try that... the next time I have a betta in my community tank. I don't think my bioload could handle it at the moment.
