Feeding the reef

OK I am still new to the hobby only had my tank for about 4mounths. Anyway I have a galaxy coral, Zoas, and a brain coral and am wondering do I need to feed them direct or just add the food to the water. I do frozen food every other day and flake food every other day.

I just add the food into the water.

I pretty much do the samething. I squirt food over the coral but not in it. If that makes sence. Except my Anenomies which obviously need to be hand fed if the Clown doesnt beat me to it.

What are you feeding - do you honestly think they're eating it? Most coral food is so much pollution in a bottle

If it's the bog standard phytoplankton equivalent then you're wasting your time, none of those are phytofeeders.

I second this opinion.
Tried cyclop eeze ( the dry one ), marine snow and DT oyster's eggs. Great way to pollute your tank.

Well actually they might be suitable foods for those corals, but you really need to get on top of nutrient control. The bottled phyo equivalents really are a foul trick, as is the marine snow (Mark Weiss?)
