How much do you feed your fish? Say for a guppy, how many avg sized flakes would you feed one? How about for a gourami?

I just need a idea.. read some sites saying feed and all they eat in 2mins if what they need...

but isnt over feeding killing fish i read at some sites? wont the fish keep eating untill it dies and not stop when its full?

Read a few sites and now im mixed up...

It's not the overeating that kills the fish. It's when the food that doesn't get eaten causes ammonia spikes and pollutes your tank.

Just feed each of your fish as much as they can eat before it stops being taken... If it stops getting eaten quickly, stop feeding him.

My Tiger Barbs have an insatiable appetite. They never seem satisfied. I feed them 4-6 times a day. Bloodworms, flake food, spinach and Brine Shrimp. Occasionally some Bloodworms and Brine Shrimp make it to the bottom but they end up bottom feeding! The little that doesn't get eaten by them gets vacuumed with my twice a week water changes.

All my fish get fed once a day.. I fed them only as much as they eat in five minutes (the rule seems to be two-five minutes).

Then if there is anything left over i scoop it out. Cause the vaccuum doesn't always get the stuff and it ends up being white stuff floating at the bottom of the tank by the end of the week, if i don't.

The freeze dried blood worms don't last long though so it never gets scooped lol. Either does the floating shrimp pellets. My fishes are spoiled :)

I have 6 of them in my planted 10 gallon with 1 oto. Remeber if it comes to feeding bigger fish it will be diffrent most likely.

I feed my cichlids about 8-15 flakes each and feed them 3 times a day. I also drop in cichlid pellets. Might seem like like alot but they like to eat and lets just say they have been healthy and growing with full colors for almost 1 year now :)

my betta gets 3 or 4 betta bitz twice daily. the gouramis get a pinch of flakefood in the morning, a pinch of either freeze dried bloodworms or spirulina flakes in the evening. I think it's probably around a large flake each (these are dwarf gouramis), maybe two - the flakes are really large in my container, though. I feed the plecos 2 wafers three times a week or so, but i know the gouramis go after those too. :) my BF feeds his fish a big pinch once a day, and they're fine that way. generally, because I feed twice a day, i feel safe giving a little less that what they'll eat in two or three minutes, since they do get fed again. i have overfed my fish accidentally, and if it happens, it's not the end of the world, provided you don't do it all the time. my plecos get whatever's on the bottom, anyway.
