Can anyone give me information on when a female betta is ready to breed? The one I have, Scarlett (since she is all red) is sitting next to a male. Kind of like a duplex...heh...both tanks are seperate, no sharing here. Anyhow, she seems to have puffed up a little, as if she has gained weight, and he is doing his best to make a bubble nest. They stopped flaring at each other weeks ago...which I thought was them just being used to each other. I'd like to try mating them, but I have no clue when she will be ready.

i have 3 females and a male in a 35 hex (i'm not breeding them)...but one female sometimes has vertical stripes when shes feeling frisky, they cant breed because of the set-up i have, so she just ends up spilling her eggs by herself and then she eats them :(

i think the stripes can be a sign
