She ended up getting her tail bitten to a nub (litterally to her skin) by the rowdy juvies so I separated her until her tail started to heal. Since she's a wag her tail is black, but it's growing in white and not getting it's color back. It's healed up half way so I put her back in with the other fish and so far I haven't seen any bite wounds. I'm not using any medicine, but I just want to know if it's normal for the tail not to get it's color back ever, or at least for a while.

An example is my FM betta, DragonFly. She's in a sorority and the smallest[so I'm sure you can imagine how that went to begin with] so she got most of her dorsal destroyed when fighting to be dominant[and she is...lol]...it came back in clear and then the color came back really fast...I know that's a betta, but I imagine platies & most fish would do the same thing as long as the wound is allowed to heal itself[no fish continuously biting it]...

Thanks for the quick reply!! I do hope she gets better. She's staying around the bottom a bit, maybe got her confidence shaken??, but she does come up to eat and she seems healthy. She's pregnant too, again........*sigh*, and she seems to be in the early stages so she's probably been pregnant for about 2-3 weeks. I hope she gets better, but if the biting continues I have a place to put her where she will be happy and juvie platy free lol. That's one of the wonders of having 2 tanks and tank dividers.
Please don't accuse my Betta. I know that it was the juvies because she was alone with them in the tank when it happened. My betta was in a completely different tank. Besides, I've never seen my betta even try to harm any of my fish. If anything the meanest fish I have is the platy that got her tail chewed off. She's fat, bossy, and steals food from everyone.
