Help! My fiddler crab managed to climb up into my filter about 5 weeks ago and has only 1 1/2 legs left. The 1/2 is from his big claw. He lost the claw, but kept the arm. We have been hand feeding him and have given him a calcium block which he loves. He is growing the legs back fine, and we are now just waiting for him to molt.

The bad news: I came home today to find him floating in the water. I picked him up and he didn't respond, didn't move when i held him in my hand, didn't do anything. I changed his water, washed the rock he usually lays on, and put him back in. Is he dead? Or is he just trying to molt? He should be molting any day now. If he isn't dead, is there anything else I can do for him?

what size tank do you have him in?
do you have any sort of filtration going in the tank?

and if he isnt moving he may be dead...watch for movement i guess.
i dont know if they stop moving when they molt.
