It seems my tank is very biologically active, so much so in fact that after about a week a new filter is so covered in green goo my bio-wheel barley manages to turn at all (it stops for 5 sec, turns half an inch, and stops again) The recommended time to change a filter is 2-4 weeks but there's no way mine could last that long, my bio-wheel would stop completely because water flow through the filter is so low with the gunk.
Any way to stop so much from building up so fast? (It's freshwater)
