I recently purchased a new filter(Penguin Bio-Wheel Aquarium Power Filters 200B) for my ten gallon tank that only has as of right now three ghost shrimp and one mystery snail.

The other ghost shrimp that I had in the tank, all have died and I think it was do to the intake of water being to strong, because they weren't as active once it was on but as soon as I turned it off they came alive and out of hiding.

I was wondering if there was anyway to slow down the intake of water myself?I beleive I read somewhere that I can use some type of sponge to stick into it to slow it down some but Im not a 100% sure, what to do and any info would help.

Thanks

I have a penguin 200 in a 10 gal too and if I put 2 cartridges in the filter it slows it down a little too. I imagine with the sponge and 2 filters it should be better. Also if you keep it way full all the way to the top there won't be as much of a current.
