Filter media question...

I am setting up a fish only saltwater tank (110 gal) and I have 2 canister filters to use with it (Rena XP3, 350gph each), a protien skimmer, a 9W UV helical sterilizer and2x350gph powerheads.

I am planning on a sand substrate around 3-4 inches deep and some live rock.

But... I am wondering what the best filter media to use is. I have head conflicting info from Marine Experts locally about what to use to keep ammonia and nitrates in check. Any thoughts?

No wet dry due to having a toddler around - I do not need him splashing in the tank. :)

Thanks.

exactly the live rock combined with a deep sand bed of a minimum depth of 4-6 inches will provide all the denitrification you need....ammonia will be converted in the cycle process and should not pose a problem provided you have enough live rock say 1 lb per gallon minimum.......and more water flow in a 110 you need at least a couple of maxijet 1200 or my recommendation would be a couple of Korallia 4's.....and a really good protein skimmer...
