Filter not sure

I got a 60 gallon tank im new and i'm thinking of getting a filter which is the the rena XP3.. but not sure can anyone help me give me some advice

Mechanical filtration of this sort is not ideal for a saltwater tank. You are much better off going with 30-40 pounds of live rock, powerheads for water movement, and a protein skimmer.

Those threads will be really useful, but you should also pick up a couple books. My advice would be New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta and Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Robert Fenner. The Paletta book is great for setup info, the Fenner is much more conceptual.

If you carefully plan your setup and have patience you will find success. If not...disaster.
