Filter Troubles

#1
I have a hob filter that is extremely noisy. I have noticed it more in the past week or two. In the last month or more i have came home to the filter completly stopped. I would just nudge it and it would kick back in. It sounds like a grinding sound. Can you buy new impelors for your filters? Does anyone think this is why its making so much darn noise! Its probably not the greatest quality filter, its a whisper 60, or somehting like that.

not to start up any "crap" but i have had 0 luck with whisper filters.

the problems you are describing seem to be part of whipsers standard program......mine were noisy right out of the box, and the ones i have run for any length of time always burn up within a year.

I have tried cleanin the heck out of that noisy thing, but i think mana is right. I bought the whisper because it was made for a tank my size or a bit bigger so i figured it had more then enough power and would definetly run great om my 55 with cichlids. Which it does, cleans great but one noisy mutha... But I bought it because after getting everything else and building a stand its all i could afford being a cheap walmart filter. I knew I would eventualy need something better, so i geuss this is the time. Thanks everyone.
