Hi, Im in the process of setting up a 20 gallon FOWLR tank.
The girl at the aquarium store said I should use a HOB type power filter with some polyfiber filter pad in there to help remove the debris.

Im not a big fan of the hang on back type power filters, so I was wondering if I used a canister filter with just the polyfiber pad would that be ok?

Thanks in advance.....

ok Thanks for the reply.

She said the polyfilter can help act like a protein skimmer, but the intake will be drawing the water from a lower level so I dont see how it can even suck up the protein thats floating on the top.

Other books Ive read recently said to use a filter and run carbon in it to help with the filter process.

I think I will keep it simple to start. Use 15 to 20 lbs of live rock, some live sand, and let mother nature do her trick! *thumbsups
