I have my new betta in a 5 gallon tank. I have an undergravel filter set up with an air pump running one tube. Is that enough for it? I might get a second air pump but I don't know if an internal filter is necessary or not. I'm not sure if I'll put anything else in with it. Any ideas?

for the most part, yes your filtration is acceptable.
i would look into getting a small hob filter for the tank instead though.
i like the red sea and azoo mini filters.they are like a full size hob ,but microsized for betta tanks.
a ugf won't allow a betta to build a bubble nest due to the surfafe agitation from the air pump driving the ugf

Like catfish said about the bubble nest, airstone agitate the surface and your betta will not be able to build a nest.

I prefer internal, low (low low) volume filters for most betta tanks. Remember bettas are not power swimmers, so keep it low.
