I have a male betta and i think one of the other fish has been nipping his finage as it's getting shorter and is ragged.

It's not fin rot as the ends are not black....although I have treated the tank with finrot meds.
Every now and then clear bits appear on the ends of his finage and tail...I think it's called fin regeneration.....ie that it's tail is growing.....the tail grows first then the colour comes later.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Hope that helps.

I would add something to help heal/regenerate his fins. Add some melafix, it has worked great (and quick!) with me. Its all natural and you can continue your normal filtration.

tramca, you said it isn't black around the edges, but is it a little white? If so, it could be another fungus of some sort.
