fin rot?

question-
I have 2 lil' oscars that I got about 2 weeks ago, and one of them is now missing a bit of it's tail fin! it was a little jagged, then just turned into a chunk that is gone! will this heal itself up? could it be fin rot, or did someone just nibble on him? thanks for the info!

Is the outline of the fin where the chunk was regularly colored, or it is outlined with gray or white? If it has a paler color on the tip, it is fin rot. In either case, I'd recommend Melafix, it'll kill any infection and help regrow the lost fin.

Thanks! It seems to have magically regrown already!! HUH! So I'm guessing it was just a missing chunk. Or else I'm on crack.  8)
