Fin Rot?

One of my Kenyi appeares to have the beginnings of fin rot. She was beat up real good by the demasoni(who is back at the pet store now)
She had a bite mark in her tail fin, and it's has begun to slowly get worse.
Can I treat this in the tank with the other fish, or do I need to remove her from the tank.
I don't have another tank to put it in.

Also after closer inspection, I see that 4 out of 6 fish have at least a split in their fin. Doesn't look like it's being eaten away, it's just one little split right in the middle.

What do you guys think about melafix? should this help?
Can a put it in the tank with the other fish?

well the one kenyi has obvious bite marks, big chuncks missing from the demasoni(gone now)
But the other ones, it reminds me of chapped lips....like the fins are just cracked.

If the splits are "clean" (just like someone cut up the fin with a sharp knife), then it's from physical damage. Either the fish are fighting, or they're chasing eachother and hurting themselves on sharp objects in the tank. In a "peaceful" tank it's rare to have split fins.

interesting....thanks for the info.

I always thought our tank was fairly "peaceful" but yes they are very sharp splits.....
they do chase eachother on ocassion, but I haven't seen anthing more aggressive than that with the fish that are in there now.
I"m going to go ahead and get some melafix this morning, do you think that will help their fins?
Also the same kenyi has damage to it's upper lip(from the demasoni) Will melifix help that as well?

melafix will fix that up, just like lotus said.

having the fish 'gasp' for air at the top of the tank can sometimes be a sign of oxygen depletion in the water....does your filter agitate the water a lot? If it doesn't, then you could either drop the water level in the tank a bit so that there is some surface agitation, or you could drop in a bubble bar or an airstone to get some O2 in there. :)

We have an air "wall" basically a big air rock.
You think I should turn up the flow on the filter? so there's more of a current? more water movement?
