fin rot

i am admittedly very inexperienced and my Paradise fish has begun showing signs of fin rot. I beleive the cause of this is insuficient water changes due to former ignorance on my part. Could the fact that he sorely needs for space be a contributing factor? ( he is moving into a much bigger tank in june) What can i do to help him heal?

Water changes will help. The major need for a fish that's healing is fresh, clean water. A little Melafix will help with fin regeneration, but water changes are more important.

ok, im starting 12oz changes daily until i see some improvement, i think i caught it early so im not too worried. thnx for the tips.

I'd recommend something more like a 1/2 gallon or gallon change.
