Ok so I finally got my big piece of drift wood put in last night. I was planning on cutting it a bit to modify the shape and design, but due to lack of tools I just left it as it was. Did a little bit of re-modelling and a good old clean. Took out the little rock cave I had built, 2 much risk of it falling and collapsing on my shark. But I have moved a few other things and what not to accommodate the wood.
Put a coconut on top of a barrel thing I hav that the other shark uses in the hope my betta might like it and take up residence. If not im sure someone else might. May also move or change this as it sits right in between my filters and I don’t want them blocking the intake of water into them.
Still not 100% happy with how it looks but it’s a work in progress. Just cant get that little shipwreck boat sitting decent anywhere, it might have to be sacrificed in the long run. I want to take out some of the smaller little décor items in there, but my GF insisted she liked them in there last night, so anything for a quiet life. I put them back in. I plan on chucking them out sooner or later and have a bash at creating my own little cave and tunnel network with a few old plastic pipes and tubing of diff sizes.
I’m going to get a few more plants for it and maybe something to attach to the wood. Or something that will look well in behind it maybe or hang over it. Most likely fake plants and something that will perhaps sit behind the log and maybe hang over it. A fake floating plant maybe attached to it with a piece of wire or something?
Someone had mentioned java moss for attaching to logs and driftwood but im not sure if it would do well in my tank, as my light is a blue fluorescent tube as you might have seen from some of my pics. Would that work for the moss? I don’t know.
Im considering changing the bulb to a different standard bulb rather than the blue.
Should i? Would it be off any benefit for the fish? It would certainly brighten my tank up a bit more and show off the colours of the kribs and betta etc..
Are the marina micro LED lights any good??
Everyone was straight out to investigate the wood and bit old sucker pleco was onto it in no time. Also noticed my kribs out and about and it was as if the female was showing off. She kept swimming in front of the male and her dorsal fin on full display.
Pics attached of the wood etc.
