finding females

I have 2 dwarf gouramies, but I want female ones. All the pet stores I've been to say either don't have any or out of stock.Where can I get some for a cheap price?

Ya, petsmart said they didn't even stock them because the looked ugly. Havent tried super pet yet...

do you live in vancouver?

Walmart has female bettas. That's where I bought mine.

Go to a LFS and if the dont have them ask if they can order some.........

walmart? i wouldnt buy fish from walmart, if i were you greengirly. definately not the best fish to buy and allen is looking for female gouramis, not bettas

My female fish that I bought at walwart is very pretty. Why not at Walmart? Is there something wrong with the fish they sell there? Plus I had to by it cuz it was all by itself

eh, i dont buy fish from walmart. their bettas are alright, i guess...but everytime i buy a fish from walmart it either dies fast or it has a disease...walmart fish are diseased alot and i just dont trust walmarts fish department. its just my opinion about walmart.

i have the oppisit problem i cant find a male gourami for my pearl >=( my other male dont make bubble nest.

How do you tell male from female gourami? Are they hard to breed??

I cant find female gouramis either. It seems like everything that I buy is always male and I wanted at least one female fish and the only ones that I can find anywhere around here are guppies or bettas. It sucks. But as stated earlier by someone else, you can ask a LFS if they can order one for you. That is what I was thinking of doing.

i just bought 2 from big al's here in toronto, we have 2 stores i think.
they had so many females, i don't know if there is one in vancover, i would there there would be, but if you do, go there.
their fish are great!
that's the only place i buy fish.

I found a place online with female gouramis. So if you are willing to have them shipped to you it may be worth checking it out.
