well what I been waiting for has happened. my shovelnose/red tail cat hybrid has killed. woke up this morning and went to turn on the lights to my tanks. saw him swim kinda funny behind the rocks. went and looked around the side of the tank, there I saw a fish hanging out of his mouth. what suprised me about it is it was not one of the small fish but, it was the largest female in the tank. in fact the tail is still sticking out his mouth. so I think his temporary home has become even more temporary cause he is being moved to my 55 TONIGHT.

oh I know he can get big. my lfs said somewhere between a foot long to 5 feet long lol. they have never had the tiger shovelnose redtail hybrid. and I knew when I got him that he was a predator and would try to eat whatever fits in their mouth. thats y the 30 was temporary and I'll keep him in the 55 till he outgrows it or gets big enough to eat my fish in there.

I'll try to get a pic. he hides alot. and nearly all catfish are pedatory. thats y live bluegills, bullheads, suckers, small carp, and redhorse are such great baits for big channel catfish, blue cats, and flathead catfish.

Well...you learn something new every day. I don't know why I always thought they were semi peaceful. They just don't look predator like I guess to me.

The pictures are great. Thank you. I just wanted to get an idea of what this fish eating creature looked like.
