Last night I noticed tiny fish eggs in the tank last night. The female red glass barb is acting crazy. She keeps going in circles, side to side, upside down all over the tank. Does anyone know when the fish eggs will hatch? How do I save most of these new fish? The tank has one red tail shark, two red glass barbs (one male, one female) and three cory catfish. If I buy a 10 gal tank, will it be big enough to house the new fish? The fish eggs are from the red glass barbs. Any comments, suggestions are welcome. Thanks. :)

I do NOT know about glass barbs, but my experience with fresh water angels is that the parent fish will exhaust themselves protecting eggs from the neighbors. I had some success putting in a tank divider-same tank, same water, but the parents could relax. My experience with all kinds of fish is that, to other fish, eggs are like steak or fresh doughnuts are to people. Don't break out the cigars just yet but it is a sign of a really healthy tank. Good luck.

Thank you for your response. It does look like she is dying or trying to stay alive. The eggs are all over the tank so it would be hard where to put the divider. The cory catfish are just a year old, the barbs are about three years old and the shark is either seven or eight years old.

This morning the female (Peaches) was at the bottom of the tank laying on her side. I guess since this was the second time of laying eggs, it was too much for her. I don't know if the eggs were fertilized by the male (Mango). He is just sitting in the corner. The eggs are white. Do they look different after being fertilized or is the egg white after ferilization? The last egg laying (about a year ago) there was one surviving fish. My niece and nephew named him Nemo because he alone survived. He lived about 2 1/2 months. I read where eggs hatch between 3-4 days or sometimes as long as a week to ten days. My tank needs to be cleaned but I may wait until the ten days. Thanks for all your help. :)
