fish for 50gal

i saw some black ghost knifefish and elephant nose at the lfs for $8.99(about 2.5'-4')
i have a 50gallon tank:
ph=6.8-7.4
water=soft
every thing else is zero
also can these fish be kept together?(cuz they are kept together at the lfs)

Both of those fish get pretty big. The elephant nose gets 9 inches and im sure the black ghost knife get bigger then that. I know its tempting but i wouldnt get either. I wanted one for my 45g but i just didnt want to deprive it from lots of swimming space. Also elephant noses like to school as i see at my fish store and maybe yours is they like to huddle up in the back of the tank.

The black ghost knife can get to about 14" if I remember correctly. Also, the feeding requirements of both species can be quite demanding. I wouldn't get either of them....

get em, and if they get to big just return em to your fish shop. Some people like buying fish that aren't babies.
I had a black ghost knife and it didn't eat to much and didn't grow to much over a 2 year period (till my piranha got tired of it) it was about 10" long and I rarely see them longer than that in pet stores.

Clown knifes can get enormous though, I saw a 2 footer at one pet store out here, was insance looking....

Either way, ghost knifes are boring as hell, they only really come out at night, I wouldn't get one ever again.

And those elephant things are just ugly....
