Are you sure he is freaking out and not just enjoying the bubbles? I do not have catfish, so I don't really know, but I DO know that alot of my fish enjoyed the bubbles.

Welcome to the tank, hope everything works out well for you.

My catfish do this from time to time and it freaks me out to. I had the same behavior when mine died as well. As everyone suggested check your water temp and parameters and if all is well don't fret. Make sure your tank is oxygenated as well.

Uh dah i see he is jumping up and down in the bubbles so it must be oxygenated!

Like others have said...check the water parameters to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary (no temperature or pH fluxuations, ammonia and nitrite at 0, nitrate under 20).

How big of a catfish is it? When was the last time you did a water change?

Welcome to MFT :)

Our catfish loves the bubbles. The only time he leaves them is when he gets hungry. As long as everything else in the tank is OK I wouldn't worry.

Welcome to the tank!!
