it can mean they have white spot, do they have white spots over their body and some fins are clamped ? usually it means that and bad water quality leads to it

Could is key word. Some of my African cichlids do it just to itch, no after effects like disease shown. But every caution should be taken.

my mollys do it sometime, i do about a 3 gallon water change out of my 10 gallon, somtimes if your water isnt the best it can burn the fish's skin

Yeah, the only species of fish I keep that regularly rub themselves for no apparant reason are my Yellow Labs.

It could be normal, or it could be the signs of an oncoming disease. Watch your fish carefully for ich (looks like salt sprinkled on your fish, this is the disease Fish Friend called "white spot"), or velvet disease. Basically, look for anything weird appearing on your fish's skin.

Water changes are _never_ a bad idea, but it could just be normal behavior on the part of your fish.
