I can't seem to figure out what is wrong with my Danios. I have 5 Leopard Danios, 3 Zebra Danios, 2 CAEs, and 2 snails in my 29g. I noticed 2 weeks ago that one of my Leopard Danios was kind of sitting in a corner not really swimming and wouldn't eat. Couple of days later he died. Noticed another Leopard Danio doing the samething last week, so I pulled him out and put him in my 10g. He also died. I thought I had parasites since I read another post and it was almost similiar to my situation so I went out and bought Jungle Parasite Clear. Followed the instructions and this week I see another Leopard Danio doing the samething as the other two were doing before.

My filtration is a Penguin 200 and I also have an air pump, so the oxygen level should be fine. I've also done 2 water changes since the first fish died.

well I haven't heard of anything similar to this but a good thing to do when your having problems is test your water to check the paramaters. The closest thing I can think of is something similar to new tank syndrome where fish sit at the top or bottom (this is due to ammonia and nitrite). It isn't limited to new tanks but is common any time a bio load is damaged or even during mini-cycles. Danio's are strong fish though so I'm leaning away from parameters and unfortunatley leaning towards nothing.

One thing to think about is changing to much water, or rather to much water at one time can hurt your bio-load. I'm uncertain of why this is but I've heard it from a reliable source so I'll be looking into it.

A side note: I haven't heard good things about CAE's before, mainly aggression issues. But if your not having problems now (they get more aggressive as they get older) then you got a good combination. If you don't run into aggression at some point you'll definatley have them outgrow your tank (stunting is very bad). Just some food for thought

How long has this tank been set up? What size is it? Have you taken a reading of your water parameters? (if you don't have a test kit, you can take a sample into your local fish store and have them test it for you. Don't let them just tell you everything is ok, have them write down the numbers, then post them back here. Sometimes they'll try to sell you something you don't need.)
