A fishkeeper has died in his Manhattan apartment after cutting himself on the fish tank he fell on to.

According to a report from the New York Times, the man, Antonio Perez, lost his balance and fell onto the aquarium, causing it to fall over and smash.

An artery in Mr Perez's arm was severed and he later died at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center.

fishdude, *knock on wood*, I have nightmares about that a lot. Like what would happen if I got up in the middle of the night and bumped into it is a sleepy state on my way to the bathroom and suddenly I bumped into it and it crashed. What would I do? With either me or the fish?
Lemme *knock on wood* again.
That poor guy :( Hope it never happens to me.

This had to be a freak accident... fish tanks are made out of tempered glass (for the most part--watch out for garage sales.) :)

When I first filled up 55 gallon and it was unlevel, I tried to sleep for about an hour but kept having visions of the appartment flooding. I promptly drained the tank then shimmed it totally level. ;)

That is horrible i feel for the man.

lordroad - i beleive only the bottom pane of glass is tempered not the whole tank.

The only 'dreams/thoughts' ive had is of ones where friends are messing around and the tank gets knocked over. That would be ****ty. Or my little neices and nephews are playing and the tank gets knocked over due to myself not leveling it correct and well i step in and save them .. haha. But really i should level the tank its leaning forward a bit and i dont feel like emptying it right now, but i will have to soon to reset the tank after the fishless cycle its been through ...

Anyways back on topic, yeah thats horrible something like this happened but really its just human error.
