My 10 Gallon freshwater has been set up for over a month now and I've kept the Ammonia up to 5ppm; NOTHING has happened. I even added cycle weekly. I don't think anything is going to happen. I give up on fishless cycling.

I have a penguin bio-wheel mini and its been running. My test kits work because I use them on my other tank and they give good readings. I don't have an established freshwater tank to get things to seed it with, and there were goldfish in there for about a week before I decided to go w/ the fishless method (YES, I took the goldfish out BEFORE I added Ammonia; but they were just fed to my turtles anyway... lol). *celebrate

He he he, i had the same problem with a 10g i cycled. I added way to much ammonia but seeded and did it all right. So maybe you OD'ed NH4, so do a couple water changes and keep your ammonia at 2-3 ppm. And put more in every 3 days not every day. Also if youd like just use say 8 zebra danios, i got 8 and i used them to cycle one of my 10g and now im ready to put them in another to cycle it. Great hardy fish if your looking, but dont give up on the fishless unless your real desperate it does work if done correctly.

I can guarantee that fishless cycling isn't a myth. Just requires some patience...

It isn't quite perfect - I have noticed on occasion I do get a quick and short (less than a week) nitrite spike with fishless-cycled filters. But it definitely works.

Cheat. Go to the fish store and buy some java fern or some other bullet proof plant - they'll come with a whole lot of bacteria attached and kickstart your cycle

I've made enough mistakes that it seems to always take my tanks at least a month to cycle...usually longer. If it takes longer than 6 weeks I would be trying something else, I agree that you dont need to put so much ammonia in...after it starts disappearing quickly I only put in that amount every few days until the nitrites are gone.
