Please define "5 bar cichlid". Technically the Neolamprologus tretocephalus is the 5 bar, but recently i've heard Pseudotropheus demasoni being called the 5 bar cichlid.

Either way both can be very aggressive and will not allow to have much mixed with them. Tetras would be food for most cichlids, especially from the African rift lakes. Kribs are a more peaceful cichlid species and would not be a good mix with the "5 bar"...they come from 2 different habitats as well.

This is what is usually considered the "5 bar cichlid"

A 29 gallon may be a decent home for one. Not sure about tankmates.
At least 40 gallons (long) for a pair.
Single trets are known to be quite "peaceful" by cichlid standards, when housed with other semi-aggressive cichlids of compatible requirements. In such a community they are usually housed in tanks of at least 50 gallons.
