Does anyone feed their bettas tropical flakes? Can this be done and does it matter what kind of flakes they are? I got a sample pack with my tank kit, they are called tetramin tropical flakes and I would like to know if I could add this to my bettas diet?

You can try and see if your betta likes it, but most bettas are pretty picky eaters. Mine loves Hikari betta bites and won't touch anything resembling flake. I would personally pick up some food at a lfs that is special for bettas since they have different nutritional needs than other tropical fish.

The bettas here get whatever I am passing out that feeding.
As I rotate between about 5-6 types of flakes, the flake of the day is what they get.

I have had no problem with getting them to eat any flake I feed.

I feed my bettas a variety of flakes, bloodworms, little moths, mosquito larva, and betta bites (the betta bites should be soaked in water for awhile before you feed them or they could give your betta constipation)...i find variety is the key, since they can acquire a larger spectrum of vitamins and other key elements needed for good health and longevity
