flake vs. pellet food

i'm ordering food as we speak and i cant find the flake food i want (ocean nutrition formula 1)--i see the pellet version though and i was wondering if fish would prefer that over flake

About the same. If you have fish that swim at the top they may prefer flake. However they will eat pellets. Its up to you.

My fish simply won't eat pellets. They sink too fast - they like to watch flake getting blown around. So it's a no competition for me

i feed both...my maroon clown seems to have no preference whatsoever...i think he manages to get a few more of the pellets than the flake (which probably just means i overfeed the flake a bit) but he never misses the brine shrimp...my feeding routine is:

~8am: Flake
~4pm: Frozen (brine shrimp or bloodworms (a fw thing but he likes them)
~9pm: Pellets

The flake tends to spread out and get stuck in crevices. My fish will come up and basically eat the pellets out of my hand.

one thought on flake versus pellet is that some marine fish(and some fresh too)suffer from bloating because they intake air as the snap at the surface for flake.

I think they'd hv no prob taking pellets. But if they r given a choice they'd go for flakes but any fish could be trained on pellets. One prob wth many pellets is they cloud water faster than flakes.

wow this is a pretty good topic--i guess i'll have to get both and see what works best
