Could someone tell me what it is it that the scallop leaves behind when he stick his tongue to the aquarium glass. It look like a seed or egg of some sort that has a strigny clear tail leading from it. If anyone could answer this question I would appreciate it.

"Might" and I'll repeat, "might " be byssal threads.....it's what clams, scallops and mussels attach themselves with to a solid object. Looks rather like stringy snot (sorry folks:D ).

Ah, you do realise that scallops have a poor survival rate in the home aquarium? The best advise I can give you is to make sure you target feed it with a good phytoplankton.

The only other thing I can think of is that "if" it is byssal threads coming from the scallop, never tear them off. If you want to move the scallop you must carefully cut the threads as far away from the scallop as possible so as not to damage the animal.
