Floresent Canopy - dont fit!

I recently bought a new top for my tank.. a floresant aquarium canopy. I have a 10gallon tank.. and well.. The canopy does not fit!!!! Like the over hang is like only a few millimeters but it's noticable.. plus when you go to like shift it the sides fall in.. blah.. It's too small yet also too big....

my LFS (big al's) sales people said that it would fit on my tank (i bought my tank from them)

anyone know what I can do? SHould I return it??

I'll return it first thing in the morning, hopefully they have other sizes for my 10gallon.. the only other fish store is extremly unknowing about their fish and aquarium products (it's a pet store) and the other is well... ahh I have forgotten the name of it, it's a large chain store which sells pet supplies, fish, some animals etc... Petcetera (I think that's it) .. I will never buy anything from them because of how they treat their animals (i have friends who use to work there and they abused their animals greatly)

But yeah.... hopefully they have the correct size ... I did pay $60 for it...

me again...

I just measured my tank size....

24.5 - 25cm - front to back (width?)
49cm - left to right (length?)

The Canopy that I bought is ...

26cm - Width
50.5 - Length

There is a little bump sticky outtie thing at the bottom in the corners (I guess so it does'nt like fall off tank if shifted??) If those little pieces were like only a centimeter moved I belive it would be ok!

I know the size differnce is so slight, it's annoying, when you see it on the top of the tank it shifts alot because the little bumpy things on the bottom do not fit correctly!!

UGH!

I am still going to go and return it. The recipt says I can only exchange (blah!) Hopefully they have the correct size... even if it is a differnt brand. I will be sure to test it in the tank which I own at the store.. they still sell it :)

I hope this works.

yeah, it fits!

Ooh, They gave me the correct canopy! :) IT fits perfectly too... plus it was cheaper so I got some money back.. (then I spent it on a new bunch plant)

This is one of the BigAl stores? How was it?

I am one of their on-line customers, and I have never had a problem with them. When I read your post I was surprised to see their name, but was glad to see that you finally got the correct part for your tank.

How would you rate their prices / customer service people? My experience has been that their people are both pleasent and helpful, and I haven't found better prices. Where is the store? I would like to go there if I had a chance...:cool:
