Flouride in water, good or bad?

My city has a measure up for vote soon on whether to add flouride to the city water supply. I was wondering if this will have any effect on my fishkeeping. Does flouride change the hardness of water? Is it toxic to fish in levels acceptable for human consumption? Will it help or harm my fish?

weve had it for a long time and i do 15-20% water changes every week and use chlorine stuff and hte fish are fine

nyc water adds flouride and the water is very soft.  they don't seem to be related.  

who knows flouride might help the fish grow nice, healthy teeth. ;D
