Hey all,
My female drawf groumie, seems to have 3 fluffy white spots on her top fin, i don't think it is white spot. i've also got a few clown louch and it's 4 days since i noticed them, and there all still white spot free.

they also seem oversized, not like grains of salt. and not spreading either, any ideas? this is the first tank i've had saltless, only problem i've had was ich at the start 4+ months ago.

sorry about spelling,
Gaz

Sounds like you may have a water quality problem. The easiest way to fix it is to raise the temp a bit to around 82, then do a ton of regular water changes to get the water quality back up.

It definatley sounds like some sort of fungal problem. It sounds like it might be True Fungus {Saprolegnia}. This is a fungus that may appear on the body, fins, tail, head and pretty much anywhere on the fish body.

Or maybe it is Body Fungus. Does the white stuff look like it resembles cotton excess?

I think it'd be fungal too - I"ve heard that you can have like 2 teaspoons in a litre and like soak the infected fish in it for an hour like a bath. If you do try that though make sure your fish doesn't act funny/ie swim erratially because that will mean the bath is too strong and it's time to take him out. It's not a bad thing - just means the treatment time is up. Good Luck hope you find out what it is.
