fluval 1 plus filter causing unhappy fish?

hey guys..

ive got a 12 gallon tank and a fluval 1 plus filter, this thing is very powerful and ive recently found that my guppies congregate at the top of it as if to avoid being caught in its "push"... is this really bad or is it nothing to worry about? the filter is strong enough to push fish around at the surface...

any advice or tips would be great... also as far as i know the fluval 1 plus doesnt allow any change in the rate of flow..

I wouldn't have thought there's aproble. You could always divert the outflow to a spraybar.

do you have flow control valves? If so just turn the flow down..... if not i would get some and turn the flow down. good luck

hey guys

ill look into getting a flow control device of some sort.. i might end up going with a cichlid tank as i hear these fish tend to be a bit tougher than your average tropical..

hey just thought i would post a follow up..

i fixed the problem of to strong a current made by the filter by sticking a "Tupperware" straw in the exit point.. its reduced the current considerably.. so everything seems to be ok so far..
