Fluval 404 problems :(

This filter was not cheap, and worked great for almost 2 years... now all of a sudden after a cleaning I plugged it back in and it's not pumping... this happened last time too and it magically started pumping again after about an hour I think... is this a failsafe or something?

are yout connecting the valves, then opening the valves, pumping the water, THEN plugging it in? Thats how you should be doing it.

Are you making sure the output hose is out of the water before priming the filter? You should hear the filter filling up with water, if the output hose is still in the water, the air in the cannister won't be able to escape and the filter won't prime properly.

The "output" hose... the *out*put hose is always out of the water... I think I'm just getting confused here... I guess I'll just try doing this as if I'm starting from scratch and see if that works. Good thing I have a backup Emperor on the tank
