Hey, I've got a 204 and a 304 and have never had any problems. Make sure though that you have all the seals on correctly, and make sure that all the hoses are on tightly. Aside from that - you should have no problems.

As far as noise goes, mine doesn't make any noise at all - usually noises are from air being trapped within either the filter canister or within the tubes themselves. Fill the canister as high as you can with water then put that top on. Lock down well. If you want to get that trapped air out of the hoses, soak them in water to fill them up, and press on the valves at the end of the connector lever to get the water completely through. Attach the tubes to the canister, trying to keep the water in there and pump the water through manually with the pump 'starter' on the filter. Try to keep air bubbles out of the intake tube - which get in when setting up the filter. When you can pump the water through manually without getting bubbles on the out-take tube, plug it up, and you should be ready to go. :-D

the build up is anywhere where the water gets trapped like underneath the opening where the water comes out. There are crystals which are white(probably calcium) and sometimes theres this goo and it is a yellowish green color(very sticky).

no leaks from the body or the hoses unless I did something wrong. great filters, crappy directions. Just learn how to clean it and put it together or problems can occur. Especially where there is a porcelain pin on the impeller unit. Be careful putting that section back together or that pin can snap and it is hard to find a replacement. Not too expensive - about 10$ but hard to find.
