I have a Fluval 405 and a Aquaclear 50. I heard of reduced flow rate when adding / using different media. I was wondering if I connected the output hose of the Fluval into the bottom inlet of the Aquarclear - would this work and also increase the flow rate?

Good or bad idea? If bad, please state why.

Thx.

I wouldn't do that.. chances are you will mess up the hob filter. it isn't designed to do that. does the fluval have a flow controller. I know that my Rena XP3's have a controller to cut back on the flow rate. just my opinion

It makes what you guy's said. I won't do it. I was going to hook up the Fluval on the sides of the tank where it has a hole on each side. I know the flow rate will defiantly slow down by doing this. The shorter the hose, the faster the flow rate. I'll just mount it in the middle.
