well i have been thinking about getting a canister filter for a new tank and have heard good things about fluval my question is i see a 404 and a 405 but i dont see a big diffrence between the 2 other then about 60 bucks in price. If i go with the 404 is it going to be sufficent for a 75gal heavlyplanted tank or should I be looking for something else? any advice or comments would be appreciated.

I just bought a rena xp 4. you might look into a xp 3 or a eliehm. I did a lot of research before I bought mine. Plus my fluval kept leaking so I gave up on it so i am a little biased and it took a week to dry out my carpet from when it leaked over night. I have read lots of reviews from people and many complained about leaking. of course there are others who swear by them.

They're not as rubbish as they used to be. Personally I like eheims as they run for ever, and don't use as much power- they do cost a lot tho'. The fluvals are jsut plasticky.
