Be responsibe and resist the temptation. University is going to be a fun and exciting place where you can be doing 101 different things with the money it would take to maintain a tank in your dorm room. Also, the irresponsibility of roommates (drunk or otherwise) places your tanks in jeopardy.

Also, be fair to your parents. They are probably not too keen to the idea of you ditching fish tank duty on them while you go off on spring break or on that summer internship.

No fishtank.

Ever hear of good cop, bad cop? Yeah, well, my partner and I learned how to play that real good, but somehow I always ended up the "bad" cop? I got the kids to behave, and she got to do the fun stuff. But hell, I'd take being bad cop and having a quiet night instead of having 24 screaming eight year olds!

Colesea i have listened to your infinate wisdom!

U gave me a guilt trip so the new plan is that i still get the tank but instead of taiking it to uni ill leave it for my sis instead of setting up a 10g for her now! I'm happy, my sis is happy, the fish is happy and now colesea is happy!

Peace, harmony and happiness dude!

You get the tank, sis can learn from you, you get her idolization, she gets tank when you leave, you get to be the bestest brother that was ever alive.

Not for nothing, but a little 1 or 2 gallon hex fits wonderfully on dorm room desks, and a male betta is certainly a much quieter roommate.... *wistles innocently*.

He was looking for a larger tank, a 10 or 15, which would definately not be dorm room sized. It seemed like a spontaneous decision, so I offered a wiser choice.

Choosing the wiser path ought to be rewarded, and while 10 or 15 gallons is too big, a little 1 or 2 gallon can usually be managed with little maintance, and can be kept out of a roommate's reach by placing it in a "personal" corner of the room. I should know, I had a nice steel blue betta live in one for 4 years with me away at college. And packing up a 2 gallon tank to leave on holiday is a whole lot easier than packing up a 10.

I completely agree with Cole on this one. Trust me, I've been in college for 8 years (with a couple breaks), and will graduate with over 200 semester hours in May. I would take the 4g along with you, and GET THE COMPUTER BACK!!! You will need it!!!

My computer = "myyyy precious...." :D (LOTR reference)
