Hello everyone new here and have a question hoping I can get figured out *thumbsups. I have as far as I can remember a 175gal Freshwater tank (IDK what it is I’ve had it for way to long) with one female Red Eared Slider about 10-11'' and about 5-7 reg. gold fish. One has been in the tank for a few months now and one of the other almost two months and are growing very well. The others are new and are small all bought as feeder gold fish.

I want to add both Trumpet and Apple snails to my tank and about 50-70 put together. I’m hoping with the turtle and gold fish in the tank they will keep the snails in check and they will not take over the tank. I know snails tend to take up air fast but I don’t think I will have a problem with that I have lots of air going into the tank 24/7. So my questions are 50-70 snails to many and will the turtle and gold fish keep the pop down so the snails don’t take over?

THKS for and help

depending on the tipe of goldfish you have, i highly doubt goldfish eat snails. and it also depends how hungry the slider is. It doesnt normally eat them. prefers those feeder goldies :)

I read somewhere that gold fish eat the snail eggs n my hope is that the new fish will grow to at least the same size as the two older ones are. They are too fast for the Slider to get them. So is there any kind of fish that eats snails but can swim fast it doesn’t take much to confuse the slider she’s kind of dumb. I know some Loach's eat snails but idk how big they get or if they can hold their own with the slider. THKS for the reply though.
