Wow. I know what happened. The School of Fish kept teasing the Cray cause he was blue and they were red. The Cray can only take soo much. Then he just snaped. He acted like he was crying and when they came in too close. He got one. Now he will mount the remains on a pole just to remind the others of what can happen.

Ok so I am running off of not a lot of sleep.

You knew it might happen. Good luck with the rest.

Does it happen a lot, Big Vine? The reason we returned our blue crays is cuz I caught one of them dragging around my brand new beautiful angel.
Your angel, eh? Dang it, that sucks. I'd wanna throw my crays out the window if I ever caught them killing one of my angelfish---or any of my "keepers," for that matter.

But I already know better, of course, which is why I'd never house them together. Sorry you had to learn that lesson the hard way.

And I refer to some of my fish as "keepers" because I really do have fish I intend to keep and a few fish that I deem to be, for lack of a better term, expendable. It doesn't mean that I neglect them or don't take care of them, but it means that I expose them to the possibility of being eaten in a predator-prey situation...as shown in the above pics.

In truth, most fish tend to survive a long time in the same tank with a cray. It is by no means an instant, all-out feeding frenzy or anything of that nature. ;)

Second victim?

Turns out someone else was in the wrong place at the wrong time...needless to say, R.I.P. bleeding-heart tetra # 2.

And no, they're not cuddling.

Good idea, Maha...I think I'll try it sometime.
Most times, the reason they end up in the wrong place at the wrong time is because I have tapped on the side of the tank and 'steered' them into the cray. That doesn't mean, however, that more 'random' incidents never occur.

Haha! In some cases, yes, I do like the crays more than the fish!
But much of the time it's the other way around...depends on the situation.

I'm glad a few of you seem to be deriving some entertainment from my twisted sense of humor. ;)

Don't get me wrong...
I usually feel a little bad for the fish whenever I see their live, twitching bodies get torn to shreds as they gasp for their last breaths. But at the same time, I'm happy the crays get the occasional chance to snack on some live food.
