Okay I think I am ready to plunge into this. How and what are the best ways to cut the bony part? I don't have a dremel which would probably be best.....think of a standard kitchen with standard tools......any suggestions?

maybe go to home depot and buy a little hacksaw?

I doubt a kitchen knife could do it...unless, I suppose, you have the amazing Ginsu knife...it slices, it dices, and it never needs sharpening!

That's it, or industrial wire cutters. Before you get stuck in, prepare what you're going to stick them to - I make little disks out of milliput modelling clay.

The stock is quite easy to brake and can be done with your hands (this is what I did with my Candy) or some pliers. The only advantage in braking them over cutting is you will not have a mess of coral bone dust and it only takes one quick snap. On the down side it may not be as presice and clean cut and you may not be able to snap it easily at some thicker points.
