I bought 2 elephant noses (buy one get one for a penny), read about how they were such a great community fish, which they are as long as the fish are much smaller then them. I need to get rid of at least one, will consider getting rid of both. They just aren't what was described on the websites, they are terrorizing my barbs and angelfish, seem to get along fine with the danios, dwarf rainbows, and other small fish (no bullying), but not the larger rainbows. I Which is contradictory to what I read of keeping them with fish of similar size. In fact when I bought the elephant nose, I was worried that the other fish being considered "more agressive" would have bullied them.

I won't ship these, I know I'd kill em. I love these fish, but without buying another tank to keep them exclusivly (or get rid of my other fish), I just can't keep them the way it's going. Will drive a 30 mile radius of Kalamazoo, if they're going to a good home.

I need to get rid of at least one asap, as he terrified my rosy barbs so badly I had to stick him into a 10gal (uncycled) tank (yes I'm doing a water change every day) and I really don't want him in there long as the tank is really too small for him and they are sensitive (accourding to website) to water quality. Will send along a clay pot for a cave for him, if needed.

email me at critterx3@hotmail.com if interested in one or both

Well, I am interested, just have to see if I can find a place for one. Let me get back with you.

EDIT: OK seems like I have a place where he should theoretically work out, and I'd be willing to take the chance and find another tank for him if that doesn't work out. How far east would you be willing to go to meet? Hubby and I have been doing nothing but driving for months, so he's not too keen on the idea of driving too far. Let me know. :)

well 30 miles east of kalamazoo is battle creek, how far did you need me to go? LOL

I supose I could travel to the Jackson area if that's where you are......but no way in hell I'm going up to flint

also, if we can do this on a weekday, when I'm not having to haul kids, would make it a lot easier :)

Humm... Well we live near Pontiac, and I'm just going to assume you are not willing to go this far LOL. We do travel out near Ann Arbor often though, I know that's still quite a ways, but if we could meet somewhere around there, that would be alot easier. If that's just out of the question, I'll talk to hubby and see where his limits are, but when I said Battle Creek or Jackson, he cringed and I could see his brain totalling up the mileage (we have a lease) and cost of gas LOL.

We could arrange it on a weekday though for sure, that part isn't an issue.

well my husband is about as keen as yours for driving, after a few umm not so nice words, he said we'll just take them back where we got them (battle creek.. Growing Point Pet Center....one of the best shops around for variety, btw if you're in the area)

they will probably give us credit, however, I really don't need more fish and really think they are such facinating fish, that someone would really love to have these. I've already spent the money, so getting credit is not really an issue. I have a lot more moral issues of having something that is wild caught (these have never been bred in captivity) which I guess is why I'm trying to give them away rather then take them to a LFS. (I'm strange..I know this)

LOL I understand, normally we'd just run over there and pick them up, but we've seriously been driving non stop lately with picking up the 220gal (in grand haven, from Pontiac... 'twas a long day) and helping out our families, back and forth and back and forth, we live an hour apart, then took my MIL and SIL out to Monroe the other day and met up with MO, and.... yeah, just keeps on going and going and we're just completely exhausted of being in the car and I think we're on next years miles with the car LOL.

I really am interested in these guys though, so if we can work anything out, that would be great. I definitly understand not wanting to just take them back to the LFS, I just drove out to deliver my cory cats because I coulden't just take them back to the store and not know who would have them, and I didn't even like them! LOL

Let me talk to hubby, but I doubt he'll want to take me all the way out to Jackson. Surely there are other MFT members who could take them that are closer? Hey Littleman.... :D You're my best friend! :D Want to help transport some fishies? :D LOL

I am born and raised in kalamazoo/vicksburg. I went to and graduated from vicksburg highschool in 98, haven't been back except on leave since. Military keeps me busy and away from home. When i do get home on leave i spend it all in vicksburg where it is nice and quiet and i can relax with dad and drink beer eat steak and play in the garden with fresh veggies to eat.

P.S. I hate the drive from battle creek to sprinkle road so long and boring at night time i tell ya

grump-- that's really cool, I was just in Vicksburg the other day. I'm originally from S. Haven, but by 98 I was married and divorced with 2 kids, but luckily I chose Kalamazoo to settle down in, now all 3 of my kids are full qualifiers of the Kalamazoo Promise, so I spent their college savings on fishtanks (joking)

virgo-- nobody is going anywhere with these fish for a few days, we are under blizzard conditions right now I can't even see the house across the street and hte news says that stores are shutting down. hopefully we can find someone who can transport or something after this storm leaves

Virgo--

unfortunatly I have to take them out today, I've got this angel that I have to treat and I have to have my hospital tank. (It's still a new angel too us, and a 3 day bacterial treatment just didn't work, he needs longer) No, I'm not going to the LFS to buy another 10gal.....I'd end up buying a 55gal or something LOL I know better then that. (I bought our 55 gal buying guppies for my son)

I'll be leaving in an hour or so, so if you really really want him and want to drive to the battle creek area, please email me or leave a message here. I'll check before I leave.

Aww, that stinks :( I really can't get out there today, we were up all night (my cat electrocuted himself, was a rough night, he's OK, but wow! LOL) and I can't even peel hubby out of bed, let alone ask him to make that long drive. :(

Good luck with the angel, anyone else that can take the e-noses? or are they headed back to the LFS?

they are gone, back to the LFS

the angel is (back) in the hospital tank, and the other tank where the other one was is a lot calmer, the barbs have their color back (I hadn't realized how pale they were looking)

I will miss them, they were cool.
